HKM is today a German brand name synonymous with quality horsewear. It began, however, as a manufacturer of babies' nappies back in 1967, before the age of disposables! Fortuitously the founder, Hans Egbers, also managed a large riding school, and thus the family business eventually concentrated on making saddle pads and horse rugs. The HKM brand is now managed by Hans' son, Paul, and the products are developed, tried and tested at the family riding school, before being manufactured on a wider scale.
