Shapley's was founded in Iowa, USA, in 1938 when a barber developed a tonic for his customers' skin problems. Being an enthusiastic equestrian he discovered the formula worked just as well on horses. The product - still marketed today with the name M-T-G (Mane Tail Groom) became the first of a now vast range of superior equine grooming products.
