Foot Wear
There are many good reasons for ensuring a child has the correct footwear for riding right from the start.
Riding boots are not only designed to keep feet warm and dry both when out riding or in the stableyard, but also to protect delicate ankles and toes, prevent slipping and sliding, have padding in the right places, and preferably have no loose laces to catch in tack or trip up eager young riders.
While long riding boots offer good support and insulation, short, slip-on jodhpur boots are generally the popular choice for child riders. They come in a range of colours and materials, designed to be durable and smart enough for competiton while practical enough for yard work.
It's a good idea to have a pair of Wellingtons with fleece liners to use for mucking out. You can look at our extension collection of kids riding boots so that even your children feel like the perfect eqestrians.
