Horse worm egg counts promote targeted worming and help to reduce the risk of all these nasty internal parasites becoming resistant to the only drugs we have available to us. And it can be cheaper than worming routinely?..
The bad news is that following an expensive and complicated worming program does not guarantee that your horse is worm free, because of resistance and poor worming practise.
Regular worm egg counts can identify problems, which can then be eliminated with targeted worming. Horse worm egg counts do not identify tapeworm burdens, so unless you want your vet to blood test twice a year, worming for tapeworm control is necessary with a product such as Equitape.
How it works?
1) purchase egg count kit
2) collect dung sample (fresh as poss), label and send to Westgate in the pre-paid envelope provided
3) We ring you with results as soon as Westgate get back to us (about 24 hours after they receive it)
4) Worm or not as necessary
