The Rubber covered Dee Bit has a single joint. The single joint creates a nutcracker action within the mouth, so is considered to be more severe than the french link or lozenge.
The D rings of the bit act in a similar way to the full cheek snaffle; they aid with the turning aid, stop pinching and prevent the bit being pulled through the mouth.
The rubber mouthpiece is more gentle than a metal one, making this a good bit for young horses or those with a sensitive mouth.
